When are you starting your maternity leave in the UK?

I'm due 5th August and just wondering when is about right to start my maternity leave. I'm on my feet most of the day at work at the moment and it's very busy. How far before your due date are you planning on starting your maternity leave?

Im taking a week annual leave at 38 weeks and starting mat leave at 39! Only 2 weeks left at work........can't wait!!!!!!

Im going to start maternity leave 2 days before my due date but take 2 weeks annual leave prior to my due date

I work in a primary' school and With my daughter i worked until 39 weeks!

This time I am lucky because even though I am taking my maternity leave from beginning of September (baby is due in October) I will actually be off from beggining of July because of the school summer holidays 🙌🏽 so I'll be off from 27 weeks! But official mat leave won't start til I'm 34 weeks 😊 x

I'm going to try and work up until 38 weeks. I work in a nursery term time and my baby is due the beginning of October. I'll have the summer holidays though and will go back to work for two weeks where the plan is to do more office based work. If I don't feel up to it I'll end up starting maternity leave beginning of September 4 weeks before due date but will have been off since July!

My due date is 6th Sept and I've requested to start mine on 28th Aug. But I work in an office so am sat on my bum all day!

I'm planning on staying at work until 38 weeks then using a weeks annual leave hopefully. I work in an office so nothing too physically strenuous unless the lifts break and it's a walk to the 4 th floor 👎🏼

How much time are you ladies planning on taking off? Im thinking 9 months purely down to financial reasons (which isn't ideal as I'd like to take a year) but my SO has just applied for the prison service so we won't rely on my wage as much (he's currently a self employed tree surgeon) and then I'll be able to take a year off.
