Am I the only one not having a baby shower? (Uk)

All I'm seeing is everyone having baby showers, I'm on baby no3 and have never had one.
 
I have next to no friends, and don't have family. So I'm not really surprised I haven't had one. But have seen some organise their own, feel like I'm the only one not having one lol.

I'm not having one either. This is baby no 2. None of my family or friends have offered to throw one and it feels way to weird to do it myself. I feel kind of sad no one has offered and sometimes I feel my family isn't as excited for this baby, but that is probably my emotional pregnant brain more than anything else.

I'm the same very few friends and no one I know would throw me a baby shower the MIL thinks they are just a way of begging which I tend to disagree with and my mum is a little upset that I am in a position where I won't have one! Me personally I don't care because all I want is little one here safe and sounds

This is my first pregnancy, and I'm not having a baby shower either. I don't have any friends and I'm not close with any of my family members besides my parents and siblings. All of my husband's family members live in Poland and he doesn't have any friends either. While it's nice to be showered with gifts, I find baby showers pretty unnecessary. Plus, I feel like it would be kind of awkward, especially if people came who I'm not that close to. Being an introvert, I'm not that interested, lol. My parents, especially my mom, have gotten us pretty much everything (which I'm super appreciative of), so I really don't need a baby shower. My husband's family members have also sent us some things from Poland, which is super nice as well. 😊

My fiancé is from the U.K. and he informed me they aren't common at all over there. I am having one here in the US, but not super excited about it 🙄

I had a shower with baby number 1 but I'm also pregnant with no3 and not having one. I've had to repurchase nearly everything though because there is a 5 year gap between no2 and this baby. We thought we were done 😂

It's definitely a personal choice. My mom and mother in law both really wanted to throw me one so I am having two. One last week was really nice, my mom had it catered at her house and it was a great day. She lives about 3 hours away. Most of the gifts I got were hand knit items and really thoughtful.

Next week my mil is having one at the beach club. I think this one will be more stressful and annoying but it's because it's the other side of our family and they are a lot louder and crazier. Oh well, they love my baby so I will deal!

Hell no I didn't have one either. It feels like an opportunity to get loads of free stuff off people and that feels hugely inappropriate to me. It's a thing that seems to have been adopted by the UK from across the pond but I feel like it should stay there.

This is our third and I've never had one . I've never wanted one.  The stress that goes into these events is too much for me . Every mom that has one seems to be out of her mind the day off . I get weird being the center of attention and already have higher social anxiety so I've opted out all three pregnancies! You are not alone !

I'm British too (living in India though) I'm not having a baby shower, it's not a tradition back home, and I find the whole thing a bit weird 😳

If people want to buy us presents or give us hand-me-downs, that's lovely, and I'm thankful for it, but a lot of our friends back home (and some here) are struggling for money, and we used to be too. I don't want to make people feel like they have to buy something, or make them feel embarrassed about not being able to afford to buy something, especially when we can already afford it now. We're the same with birthdays and Christmas, and always have been.

I mean, that's not to say we won't have a party when baby is here; but it'll be a 'bring some drinks and we'll whet the baby's head' kind of thing once I'm feeling well enough (and can pump milk so I can have a couple of glasses of something nice!) and there'll be a 'no presents, only your presence' rule.

I'm not having a shower. We have a registry so if our friends and family want to they can get us things. My husband is military so we are on the opposite side of the country from friends and family, that's why we're not having one.
