Unprotected sex

I have been sexually active for a little under a year with my boyfriend. We were eachothers first. Well when we first started having sex, I wanted to be sure to use protection. I was told birth control was very bad for your hormones and that in some cases it could even make you infertile. So I didn't want to risk it. Well.. after about 3 months of sex with a condom, we decided to try the pull out method. It worked. My man has always been on point. And to this day I have never had cum in my vagina. I know it's not the most effective form of not getting pregnant. And that's it's obviously risky. But it's worked for us for well over 9 months. Has this shown effective with anyone else?
