Epidural or spinal block??

Question

I'm scheduled to have a C-section on Friday, this will be the first time I'm not in labor while they're inserting a needle into my back.. Has anyone else had a scheduled C that could tell me how much pain should I be worried about? Also is it true they give you a spinal block instead of an epidural? Perhaps this is last minute jitters but I'm not used to not being in labor and having a baby..

My first was technical a scheduled c section they did a spinal block witch was no pain at all. As soon as I gain sensation in my legs I began to walk witch made recovery so easy and not painful at all the only thing I suggest is ask for a medical tummy and and get compression socks beacuse afterwards ur feet will sell like balloons. Otherwise good luck mama:)

Can I ask why you have to have a c section? And did you deliver vaginally before?

I had a scheduled section with my daughter and I had a spinal. It really was nothing they give you a numbing shot and then you feel pressure from the other. I just remember being nervous and surprised when it was over. Try and have someone stand in front of you and talk to you it helps. You will be numb from the pits down and it will feel like you aren't breathing fully but you are and it will be fine. Just try and relax you will be fine!

Spinal block worked well. I hate not being able to feel my legs, but it got the job done! It wasn't painful. The numbing shot wasn't pleasant, but by then I was already so nervous that I didn't even think about the shot.
