hashimotos disease??

I had some private blood tests done and have found out I have hashimotos disease. I understand what that is but I don't understand what I need to do?? Im seeing a consultant soon, what will Tey suggest?

So the medication is actually just treating the hypothyroidism caused by the hashimotos. The hashimotos means that you have an antibody that actually attacks your thyroid thinking it's not supposed to be there or whatever. This causes your thyroid function to decline and become low. The medication is only treating the low thyroid hormones however there is no medication to make your body stop producing the antibodies. So while the medication might help you feel better for a while, you will still have significant periods of weight gain, mood swings, and pain. Unless you treat the actual cause which is the antibodies. I was diagnosed by my chiropractor who actually now runs a functional wellness center. He put me on a strict diet plan called autoimmune paleo diet. Through sticking to this I was finally able to lose 40 pounds and felt the best I have ever felt!!! He also was able to do blood work and determine my vitamin d levels and b12 levels were super low so he put me on supplements for that as well (this is common with hashis) It also causes a lot of inflammation in your joints and taking supplements or eating certain things like ginger a turmeric can decrease that and help significantly! You will most likely be prescribed levothyroxine or something similar. That is what I take for Hashimotos. They will do blood work, start you at a dose, have you come back in 4-6 weeks and check levels again, this will continue until they find the perfect dose for you. Once on a set dose just remember that pregnancy,  or significant weight changes can change your dosage needs. With the medication you should be fine.

My understanding is it an autoimmune condition 
Can effect your thyroid etc
They will probaly monitor your levels regulary and prescribe you medications in your levels are out of wack.

My sister and mum has it they had to be put on medication so that their thyroid could regulate so that it wouldnt get worst
