Should children regardless of grade level be able to charged with a felony for fighting in school?

Yes let's make sure they go from school directly to prison. Why create any barriers at all?

A felony? For like a 6 yr old, or a 10 yr old. No. Plus, if someone was defending them self from a bully, how would that go? Most children don't just fist fight for shots and giggles

I wouldn't say a felony, but I think they need a more serious punishment than detention or suspension, especially if it's a frequent fighter. Make them do like community service and talk to the counselors at school (kinda like therapy).

Children are stupid and their minds are still developing. That's why they need adult supervision and guidance. They're learning. Social programs dedicated to counseling, mediation, problem solving, reasoning, and managing conflict would be 1000% more effective and beneficial for everyone.

Should they get punished? Of course! But I feel like a lot can go wrong if it ends up being charged as a felony. Obviously it can target POC since they often get more serious punishment. Also, many times both people who got into a fight will end up in trouble, even if there was an obvious instigator/one person had to fight back to protect themselves.

Yep. My best friend in year 4, was whacked over the back of the head with a cricket bat, and she fell down a flight of stairs, splitting her chin, and rolling her ankle.

The ass who did that, didn't get in trouble. She was 10, he was 12.

Noooo. A felony stays on your record. I wouldn't want my 30 yr old kid to be turned down from jobs bc of a felony when he was 7

A felony? Kids are going to be kids. They arent going to get along always. My husband when he was in high school was jumped by 3 guys.  His best friend jumped in to help. They ALL got arrested and charged even though he was fighting in self defense. Which is shit. It was a misdemeanor but still. If parents would teach their kids to act like humans and not animals it wouldnt be so bad. Weapons should be charged. But hands on hands, no. You put yourself in the position to fight and youll get what you get.

Absolutely not. Violent kids need to be taught replacement skills, not be put into a violent environment

No. A lot of times they can't even tell who started the fight anyway. My sister was punished for fighting after a girl beat the crap out of her. My sister never even hit back because she didn't want to get into trouble. After that, my sister dropped out of school because no one was addressing the bullying and harassment towards her.
