It really depends on the couple. My boyfriend and I got promise rings this past winter and I told him he is not allowed to propose before we live together at least a year (at least two years from now). People exchange promise rings for all sorts of reasons so it really differs ❤

Promise ring in September and engagement in April the following year. Though he was dragging so I told him it was time to get a ring and we went thst day. When he actually gave it to me was his choice. On Monday we celebrated 9 years of marriage. It all depends on him and y'all as a couple.
