Anal sex?

So my boyfriend and I were going to try anal sex, he wasn't able to put it all the way in because it really hurt, but now it still hurts speacially after I tried going to the restroom, and I'm also bleeding from my anus, is that normal? What should I do? And if we decide to try it again, what's the right, correct, safe way to do it? What are something's that I should expet that are normal and somethings are not normal, that shouldn't be happening, that I should be aware of?
