Am I an ass for thinking it's rude to not buy off registries?

I don't know, but I find especially baby registries are there for a purpose. I can see if every item is extremely pricey. But when you have a wide variety of prices I don't see why people don't buy off of it unless they simply can't get to the store, etc. The whole point of a registry is to help out with things needed for baby. Maybe I'm as ass lol

Personally i think people turning up is what counts not how many presents you can get and what you can get. We dont expect anything and if people do bring items/regestry or not its appreciated dearly.

I agree with a previous poster, it would be far more rude not to bring a gift to a shower in general, but I know what you mean. It drives me nuts that people don't follow registries because then the new parents end up with approximately 1000 newborn or 0-3month onesies and 50 homemade blankets.

I think it is kinda rude not to get your what's on your registry. a registry is so that people can get you what you absolutely need. And if my family and friends don't get me what i need from my list is going to suck honestly i put all the things baby needs. Ace my baby shower is tomorrow.

There are some things you can't register for. Like handmade sweaters and such. I LOVE all the items I received and appreciate them greatly. Most included gift receipts, which is helpful if you want to return.

I think you're going a bit far to say it's "rude." I think it would be far more rude not to bring a gift at all.

Ugh it makes me crazy when people don't get stuff off my registry! I've very picky so I picked certain items for a reason! Especially clothes 😂

It kind of drives me nuts 😆 if you want to bring a gift that's not on the registry, do, but also something on it. I've gone to a shower we're another guest had asked 'I just don't know what to get her' 😳 there's a list.......get something from that. And I know people say that bringing any gift is enough, which yes, of course, but you should realize the mom made her registry for a reason, or else she wouldn't have made one at all.

I created my registery as a suggestion. Like we would appreciate diapers, wipes, etc. I don't expect my family or friends to buy what's actually listed. I hope they all stay within a budget that doesn't put them in a financial hard spot. If they can't afford a gift, then just their presence at my baby shower would be more than enough for me. My baby, my responsibility.. but yes gifts are nice and very much appreciated.. helps tremendously.. but never would I be upset and call someone out for not buying a specific brand, color, ect from my registery.

My mother doesn't understand registries and hates going to baby type stores, she gets overwhelmed by the whole process of printing the registry, checking the list, finding the same item, remembering to have it scanned....it's just too much for her for some reason. She also doesn't like to shop online.  But she always gets a nice gift. It doesn't make her rude, just an old fart with minor anxiety lol.  Also when I was on a tight budget (grad school student, and then again when husband lost his job while I was pregnant) and to be completely honest I hated buying off registries because I didn't want the recipient to know how little I spent. I know there are affordable gifts, but I was embarrassed for them to know I only spent $12 on the bath toy on the registry and I couldn't afford to spend more. No gift is rude,  a gift is thoughtful.

I would be thankful for whatever gift someone bought for me. They spent their hard earned 💰 on me and I would hardly call someone rude for not buying the specific blanket with the duck on it I had on the registry.
