frustrated 16.5 month toddler?

My son is 16.5 months and every time he gets "mad" or frustrated when I say no or I say stop he tends to make a fist and smacks his eye:temple area.  He used to just bite his hand but now switched to hitting his eye area.
Is there anything I can do to prevent that? Or just have to wait until he understands "no?"  He is also suffering badly with teething as well.

Instead of just saying no could you rephrase it? The plain old no is frustrating to kids. Switching it up might help him process it better .. or it won't but it doesn't hurt to try lol

Is it possible to redirect his attention to something else? That way you may reduce how often it happens.

Head hitting is very common at this stage. They grow out of it. They do it bc they don't know how to express themselves so they do what they know. Also it is a sign or "pain" or discomfort. You said he is teething, may want to try some ibuprofen.

My toddler usually falls to the ground and "cries" dramatically, but it's just faking. I don't think he would hurt himself, but he might not know how to control himself. Tell him to be "gentle" and rub his hand softly to show him what that means.
