So I'm 16 and talking to this 24 year old. He knows I'm celibate and respects that but also brings up sex frequently. I'm yet to meet him and my friends are warning me off the idea, one says if I really want to only meet him at a public place but overall they all think he's up to no good. What do I do? Do I give him a chance? I'm kind of bored really.

That's a bit of an age gap, but if he's talking about sex knowing you don't want to participate he doesn't really respect your wishes. 
Be very careful, I've been on both sides of not meeting someone before getting involved. One was an awful two year relationship at about your age and one turned out to be the wonderful man I'm married to.

My experience when I was your age amd talking to older men they only ever wanted one thing no matter what lies they said about not wanting it. They know it's against the law so it's usually a one night stand. When I dated older guys I never did Anything sexual with them and they didn't stick around long cause of it. Id say just Stick with your guys your age them no one's breaking the law and it makes everything easier

It is incredibly uncommon for a typical 24 year old to want to be with a 16 year old without having other motives. If you've said you won't have sex but he still proceeds to bring it up, sounds to me like that's what he's after. Major red flags. I would stay away from him.

Nope! That is a RED FLAG! I'm 30 and would not date a 20-22yr old! With you being a minor and him being aware.....he's going to ruin his life! Also, he's a perv. NORMAL Men his age know better than to do that.

Listen to your friends. If he brings up sex then he is trying to plant the idea of having sex with him in your head. It is a common manipulation tactic.

I use to do the same when I was that age as well. But sex was never brought up because its inappropriate within that age gap. I say its a no go and it sounds pretty creepy.
