impulse decision?

Well today I got a new member of our family! He's 8 weeks old and a pit puppy 🐶
Was this a bad decision? It's just me and my boyfriend. I'm due By the end of July so that gives plenty of time for me to train him. I'm very good with being patient and training dogs. I see a lot of people who already have a dog or a cat and are fine when the baby comes..

Studies indicate that children who grow up around dogs have stronger immune systems. Pits are also great with kids since they have such a high pain tolerance.

I mean it takes longer than 2 months to really train a dog (for some things anyway), not to mention it's a puppy and it'll just do puppy things regardless of training. I have two dogs that are usually great with my baby who is now 13 months, but they're also almost 6 years old. I mean, I personally don't think I could handle (or want to handle) a puppy and a newborn, but I'm sure some people wouldn't mind.

He is so cute!! I think you can do it, just make sure not to ignore him when the baby comes because that could cause jealousy. I had a pit before my first baby and he loved my son and was so gentle around him. start tugging on tail and ears my husband did that from day one so our pup was comfortable with that since kids will do that, and we never had an issue with our son. Thanks guys for the info! He is very nippy as all puppies are but when I snap my fingers and say no he seems to get the idea. I made sure he's not territorial with his food/toys/etc.

Just remember that he will be teething around the time you have your baby. Dogs lose their teeth between 4-6 months of age and that's when they chew on everything. It may be hard to find time to exercise him with a newborn so look into doggy day cares to let him run around a few hours if you feel too busy. They are seriously awesome and usually around $15-$25 for a whole day. I take my dog once week to burn off energy though I walk him a few times a day. It may be hard and it may be east, just try your best!
