Taxes higher or lower?

Question

What is your opinion on income taxes. Should they be higher on the wealthy or should they all be the same? Or do you believe they should be handled a different way? Explain.

Tax the wealthy. Tax the shit out of them lol. I'm in a high tax bracket and pls tax me. I don't care if I get taxed. I'd give half of my wealth for universal health care.

I don't think a flat tax is beneficial. I think the wealthy should pay more and the impoverished should pay less.

Forget income tax.

Raise the capital gains tax. Like double it or something. Profit made from investing is close to being free money for the rich, and taking a bigger chunk of that profit isn't going to do much other than make them slightly less rich.

Alternatively, take a cent or two per stock from every Wall St trade. The NYSE trades over a billion stocks a day, for a value of over $160 billion. They won't feel that loss.

Income tax is the least equitable way to generate money from a population.

I think if you want to tax the wealthy you need to reevaluate the definition of wealthy. Donald trump  is wealthy, mark zuckerburg is wealthy, bill gates is wealthy. A family making 100k a year is not. Well off yes, not wealthy. I think the current tax brackets for people making under 200k a year are appropriate, but go ahead and increase taxes on others.

I'm actually for a flat tax, everyone pays the same percentage, as a result the people with more money will pay more taxes. I don't care how much you make I don't think it's right for the government to take more than half.

I agree everyone deserves food, clothes, a roof over their heads, healthcare. But the government should be able to figure out how to do that without taking half of everyone's money

No. I feel like it should be the same percentage for everyone. Just because someone makes more than me doesn't make it right for them to pay a higher percent. Even though they do. I'm commission based at my job and when I've been extremely busy, my checks have actually ended up being lower than not so busy weeks due to the higher tax bracket. I don't feel like I or anyone else should be punished for working hard!
