Need some help on mental illness

So my mother had really bad bipolar depression and was an addict/alcoholic. My father was an alcoholic and an addict as well with depression. I have chronic depression, and bad mood swings, but lately my mood swings have been from one day going out on a run happy cleaning, staying up all night cause I can't sleep, to waking up and wanting to disappear. I just wanted some ideas, if it sounds like I might be bipolar. I'm gonna talk to my therapist in a few weeks, but I wanted to ask and get some opinions...
