Are you comfortable with the government being able to access your messages and private info at any given time if it's for the benefit of the people?

Would you give up your privacy if it meant the government could help us track down criminals and improve our society? Or would you be protective over your privacy? I see a lot of posts about you couples snooping on your partner's phone so curious about your opinions on snooping when it comes to the government. This includes phones, computer, any device. I know they are able to do this but apps like whatsapp prevent that which raise a lot of heated opinions. What do you think?
