any October mamas military wives?

My husband and I have been discussing career advancement for him after he graduates with his bachelors this fall (he'll also be 28 in dec) he wants a more demanding job, one he can take pride in and grow in. We are reaching out for information at the moment and waiting to hear back-but he is pretty interested in commissioning with the marine corps. Any words of wisdom, advice?? 
Prayers are also sooo appreciated as we start to navigate this huge decision that would completely change our lives. Picture of our adorable daughter; who we want to give the best life too, for attention :)

My hubs is army enlisted. The hardest part is your lack of choice. If you are unhappy with a post or a unit or a MOS that doesn't pan out like the recruiter described it... you are stuck. A contract can feel like a prison sentence. I'd recommend researching MOS very very hard before signing.

My husband, 28, just enlisted a week and a half ago. I know it's going to be the best for our family overall, but I'm still struggling with the idea of it. He'll ship out for his basic training beginning of September, so he's going to miss our daughter's first birthday. From there he'll go straight to AIT, so he'll be gone a total of 6 months. We both work full time and share baby duties. I rely on him so much. I don't know what I'll do the 6 months he'll be gone.

The biggest thing is to remember that in the military work pretty much comes first. So if he's asked or ordered to deploy you have to make sure you're willing to either move back with family or basically be a single mom while he's gone. Even when he's not deployed there's the chance of him working long hours. It's definitely a tough lifestyle. With a family I think they have something where you can request to stay at one station instead of having to move every so many years, but my husband got out before we had to worry about that.
