NuvaRing question!

Currently on the NuvaRing, I insert it for three weeks, remove it for my period week, and re insert a new one. Yesterday I inserted my 3rd NuvaRing in the cycle. Today my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex and he finished inside me. Two questions: When I first started NuvaRing I was instructed to wait at least 3 days before having unprotected sex-- does that apply to every single time I insert a new ring? Or does that only apply to the first time?
