Our little prince was born November 1st of 2016 and he has been nothing short of spectacular from the moment he popped into the world with a poop and a cry, till just now when I fed him a piece of a mashed, ripe banana. Our lives have been changed for the better via this wiggly, giggly, jiggly, wide-eyed, curious, self-actuating thing in whose eyes we have the honour to witness the immergence of understanding and of a sense of self. It is not always easy, but the part I find to be particularly challenging is the portion where I feel like a zombie due to the wonderful sleep that we are not getting.

I find myself resorting to Red Bulls to make it through my workday. I do it because I feel as though I was lobatomized and on the verge of sleeping with my eyes wide open with tendrils of drool hanging like a pendulum from my lower lip. I am sure I do not have to explain that to you all because the majority of you have, or are, inhabiting that space as I type.

However, this post is one of joy, believe it or not. Our little prince has been sleeping through the night these last many days and I am so happy for that! Now, I know that some of you have babies who are freakishly prefect - who popped out of the womb with two PhDs, was toilet trained and slept through the night from day 4 onward. I tip my hat to you and your good fortune, but this little one decided to put us through the wringer. Till a week ago, I did not know what consecutive nights of 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep were. They were these distant memories of which parents of newborns spoke about in hushed, reverent tones over tea and bagles in small meet-up groups where everyone sports matching eye and diaper bags. I feel like shouting this to the world because I feel so much better, but will leave it as an obscure post on a baby app.
