Would you let someone (family) hold your baby if you knew they would cry right away?

Question

Son crys as soon as anyone but me and dad hold him. I'm stay at home mom and am very defensive over him. Grandma insist on holding him even though he cries so he can get used to her. I tell her no, to instead sit next to him and play with him so he gets to know her better. What would you guys do? I need serious advice. Please help. He 100% always cries within the minute of being held by her or anyone.

Stranger dangers stage. It will pass but I wouldn't let anyone that baby doesn't trust hold him. They won't get over it and will do it each time. She need to play with him from afar to build up trust so he will feel comfortable with her to hold him. Your baby your rules.

Mine is the same way with my MIL. And she thinks she can sooth her and she will walk away with her to keep me from getting her.😡 or she will give her to my sil like she's her damn mama or something.. can't stand it! lol I have to just take her and go outside so she will calm down!

My daughter doesnt like certain family member but i always let them hold her even if she crys just for a min or two but i stand right there so she still feels comfortable.. So far its working very well people she use to cry with are her new best friends

I guess it's personal opinion. I always go with my gut and my gut told me each time to bring her back to me. I immediately will take her back in a call manner, still standing close by the other person, talking to them, maybe hug them and then we would try again. So far it's worked almost every time and if not it's okay. Stranger danger really is just a phase and the other person needs to understand it's not personal. I think we forget that babies are human too, their cries are all they have to communicate. I think of it like this: You wouldn't force someone who didn't want to be by someone else to if they told you otherwise so why force a baby.

We attended three parties in a week so everyone was wanting to hold our LO... we noticed that she cried with anyone that got in her face but was fine with anyone who just held her calmly... my MIL was one of the ones in her face so she cried every time she was held by her but was happy and smiley when playing together on the table or floor 😛

She's right in one way but because you know baby will cry your probably stressed which baby picks up on.

My son used to cry as soon as I want holding him. I would just tell him it's okay I'll be right back and walk away. As much as my MIL annoys me, she's also pretty good at distracting him. Of course he was 5-6 months when I did this so he was old enough to understand that I could leave and come back. Now if he started full out crying and didn't calm down I would take him back.

My son will cry with certain people and t seems like the people I don't like (talking about family have many reason why) so if it's one of them I will not let them hold him period anyways .. so he will never get use to them or trust them because they can not be trusted !! But if you personally trust the person I would see if playing with baby first works if not just letting baby cry while being held by the person try toys to destract baby (I say only like 2 minutes max if baby doesn't quit crying I wouldn't try again till baby is a little older)
