When can I hear the heartbeat?

Hi everyone! 
I'm wanting to go and hear my baby's heartbeat, I'm just wondering when is the earlisest stage people would go to hear the heartbeat?

I am currently 6 weeks and 2 Days pregnant.

It varies for each mom. 6 weeks can be too early to hear it for some. My Dr waited until I hit 7 weeks to do an ultrasound, we were able to see and hear the heartbeat. But I have seen posts and comments from others who were not able to hear it then an from others who heard it earlier. I would wait till 7 weeks just so you don't get worried if you are unable to hear it before then.

I went in yesterday at 5 weeks 6 days and was able to hear the heartbeat.

Via abdomen 14 weeks plus.  Vaginal U/S 5 weeks plus.

My ob does 8 week vag US to see heart beat but I didnt hear it then. 12 week he does the doppler to hear it and then at every appt after.
