gestational diabetes

I took my glucose test a few weeks ago and passed it but then my last 2 appointments my midwife has said my sugars are too high and im showing symptoms of gestational diabetes so they want me to take the test again in 3 weeks has anyone had high sugars but not devolved GD? I dont know that much about gestational diabetes so im starting to worry, what effects does it have on your baby?
