Crib vs Bassinet Advice

Hello ladies.! I am a FTM and am in need of advice. My little one will be here in november and for the moment me and baby will be sharing a room together. I already plan to buy a crib, but will it be necessary to spend money on a bassinet to use to? Is it safe for a newborn to sleep in a crib if the crib is right next to me? I dont have enough space in my room for both, but id love to get the crib by July or so. Any advice is great.! 😊
