college help, family has never gone

I want to become a dermatologist Assistant, but in order to do that, I read that you have to take physician assistant studies, but in order to do that you have to take some courses before you go to PA school. I can't figure out what courses I would have to take. My family knows nothing about college & I don't want to talk to a college about it right now because I would like to know what I'm getting myself into. Any help???
