Help ASAP

Do all of you think I did the right thing? I'm not sure if this is emotional abuse, but we have recently been on a break and tonight, we were having a conversation and out of nowhere he says "you don't have to worry about me anymore" saying that he's basically going to put an end to his life and I won't have to worry about him anymore. Do you guys think I should put things to an end officially? I know he really does love me, and maybe he is just in his feelings but I really need all of your opinions ASAP
