does anyone have any experience with macrobid?

My doctor just called and told me that I have a uti. I'm still in the first trimester and was told by the pharmacist that that antibiotic normally isn't recommended for the first trimester and so I called my doctors back and they told me that was the best option. Does anyone have their own stories about this? Should I be safe?

I took it when I was 7 weeks due to uti now 31 weeks with a very active baby

Shouldn't be used in the last 2-4 weeks of pregnancy.

It's fine to take under doctors orders and it's the first line of defence for UTIs in pregnancy. Better to take it than develop a nasty kidney infection and end up in hospital. If you're kidneys shut down because of an untreated infection, you and baby are screwed.

Take the macrobid and don't worry xxx

Also beware antibiotics with floxacin on the end, new studies have shown they can cause random tendon rupture 😳

I don't know about during pregnancy but I had macrobid once and I felt like I had the worst flu of my life. Looking at reviews on drugs.com there are a lot of people who had similar problems. If there's another choice that would be safe for baby I'd look into that. Although there are lots of people who have taken it and had no side effects soo it's really up to you.
