Period or spotting?

So I'm on birth control and have been for a while now- I've generally skipped periods (common side effect of my pill) and then I get breakthrough bleeding during my active pills. My doctor says it's normal and all my research on my pill does as well. What I'm wondering is on this app would you log this as spotting or as your 'period'?
