My birth story. An unexpected turn of events.

Shar
My due date was June 1st and I had been anxiously waiting for the arrival of my baby girl. Monday, May 29 my water broke. It wasn't like the tv shows where a gush of water drops between your legs. I was actually in denial that it had actually broke. For about 5 minutes, I thought maybe my bladder wasn't fully emptied out when I went to the bathroom. So I sat on the toilet and it kept coming out in a slow leak. After I felt I had gotten all of the "pee" out I stood up and walked back to my room. My lower back had been hurting that day so I leaned over my bed to give my back a slight stretch and again, water started to trickle down my legs and it was then I realized that this was not pee lol. I called my mom freaking out and she was so calm and told me to get my stuff together and to call the doctors office. With it being Memorial Day, nobody was in the office so I had to wait for a callback from the nurse on call. After all of the questions, she told me to head to the hospital and check in to L& D. My contractions didn't start immediately afterwards, but I kept leaking all the way to the hospital. Once there, I was admitted to triage where they tested for amniotic fluid. It was confirmed I was officially in labor so they set me up in a room and checked my cervix. I was still only 1cm dilated which I had been for 2 weeks. I was started on pitocin and waited it out until about 2AM. By then I was up to a 14 on pitocin and the contractions were starting to get harder to handle. I asked for my epidural and boy, that shit hurt like hell. I labored until 1 pm the next day and doctors came in and checked my cervix. I was only dilated to a 3 😒. By this point, I was fed up. Doctors told me my cervix was too narrow for baby girl to come out and dilating would be difficult so they recommended a c section. I was tired and agreed. C Section was so scary, but having my mom with me in the room really helped. I literally felt nothing while getting the cesarean. At 5:09PM, I heard my baby's first cry and emotions went wild. At 5:08 PM on May 30, 2017 I gave birth to Saniia Zoie and my life has been forever changed. 27 hours of labor ending in c section was totally worth this beautiful reward.
