Who do you blame when this occurs?

I apologise if this ends up becoming a rant but I am beyond frustrated.

As many of you are probably aware London Bridge suffered another terror attack. So who do you blame? This question is being asked because of the mass of people blaming our countries security. It may seem like a stupid question but all I can hear, read and see is the blame shifted to security. I want honest answers.

The security threat level was taken down to severe which still means an attack is imminant but everyone must remember that even with the threat level at critical that does not mean that security understand who, when and where an attack will occur.

So if you believe the blame should be on the security of our country I pose several questions to you.

1. If security is to blame, what do you think they should be doing? 
2. If there was not a terror attack then surely our security wouldn't be needed? So why blame security over the terrorists? 
3. If it wasn't for our security many other people would have died, the response was almost immediate and prevented further people from sadly losing their life. So are they still to blame?

Personally, I do not understand how anyone in a time like this can blame our security. Because if it wasn't for them, we may have had a lot more terror attacks, the attacks could have been much worse reffering to the death toll and they are the ones who make me feel safe.

At a time like this I hate social media, mainly Facebook as everyone is very quick to give their opinion on our security but I would love to understand what they think they could have done. Our emergency services have been praised for their quick response and how they handled the situation yet all the keyboard warriors still believe they are to blame.

If anyone disagrees with what I have said then let me know and I will compose myself. It just massively affects me that an attack like this happens and all we discuss on the news, social media, newspapers is how our security is at fault.

It's the fault of the people committing the damn crime. Like you say, high level security wouldn't be needed if the terror attacks didn't happen. When a crime occurs, it's always the criminals fault. You don't blame victims or everyone when a rapist rapes, it's down to that person. Same with terror attacks. In Britain we do so much to ensure we're safe, so it's so unfair to blame security for this attack. The only people wanting people killed are terrorists, not the security and not the public.

The root of the cause is ISIS. Extremist terrorists.

Our current government are failing us - indirectly funding extremism via weapons deals with Saudi Arabia, for example.

Cuts have meant fewer security, fewer police officers, fewer people who can track and appropriately deal with reports of extremist behaviour. The Manchester bomber had been reported on at least 3 occasions - but we appeared to lack the personnel and funding to appropriately investigate.

Our countries's security should be taken seriously. But I feel that our current government are seriously failing us, favouring lining their own back pockets rather than making sure our streets are safe and our health service protected.

Even the best boat can spring a leak if you aren't careful. The best you can do is teach people to look for signs of a leak, to teach them how to repair the leak and work together to educate others. You can have 10 people watching on space but a leak can still occur in another. 
   
Western approach to this has proven to be a weakness. Eradication under assumption only creates martyrdom, education and public buy in creates a safe watch.

I don't see how they can possibly check everyone in every car in the UK just in case they are going to drive into people. It is an awful situation. I just don't know how they can stop the evil people. It is so unpredictable

Okay.. I don't like this post for one main reason. There is no "is it a security issue, or a terrorist issue?" The two go hand in hand together. DUH - it's the fault of someone committing that crime. But if your security sucks, then you should do something to fix it. It's like someone stealing items out of your car. No, it's not your fault, but you should've locked your car. That's what the smarter thing would've been to do to prevent those things from happening. It is completely unrealistic to expect terrorists to stop being terrorists. It's not unrealistic to protect yourself against it.

well it's definitely the terrorists causing the crime. but many people are looking to the lawmakers. in the us, the decision is in their hands. and they're clearly choosing to not let anyone in. personally, I believe that the refugees should be allowed to relocate BUT there needs to be supports put in place. such as finding families who want to help or host a new family, weekly English or whatever language is the dominate language lessons, help finding a small job until they can fluently speak the language.

the main question right now is, do we let fear rule the decision of should we allow these refugees into other countries OR do we have faith in the goodness of humanity and give them a second chance?

In the uk we've had our defence, police and community police support cut. Police no longer on the street engaging with communities so can't be the eyes and ears anymore. It's an absolute disgrace the number of actual police out there on duty. 2 officers covering a huge area!! Hope this god awful government get kicked out on Thursday

As an English American I'm heart broken by what is going on in Europe and I'm sure more will happen in the US. Your security can't watch people 24 hours a day. They need to cure the disease, not the symptoms.

Terrorist...they committed the act. Security cannot read their minds or know exactly where and when attacks will happen. It's too unpredictable. The most they can do is be vigilant and also educate public on being aware at all time of possible signs(suspicious people, backpacks, vehicles or more) and make sure they know who and where to report signs too. But the person or people committing it r at fault.
