Home Birth Success Story!!
Hey everyone! Wanted to share my successful homebirth story! After having to be induced with my first baby, a 37 hour hospital birth, I was hoping and praying to get my home birth this time around. I found an amazing midwife and everything went great! Labor started around 930 am, but I was in denial that it was actually labor and we went to church. After a while decided to come home early and called my midwife, she said to take a shower. Contractions were consistently 3 minutes apart, 1 minute long, and getting stronger. She came over, and my husband and mom got the birth pool blown up with my two year old running around so excited. The midwife came and said I was definitely in labor! I got in the tub and it was amazing. Labored on my knees for a while, the midwife was convinced he was coming super soon, but she started realizing that I seemed to not be progressing much more and the pain was very intense in my back. We're pretty sure now that his hand was up at his face, so I wasn't able to dilate all the way and get him to come down. After changing positions a few times and the midwife helping move my cervix (and about an hour of me crying hysterically saying I couldn't do it anymore), my water broke, and I pushed his head out with the next contraction! I had to wait for the next contraction to push his body out, so he had just his head out for about 2.5 minutes, but he was 100% fine. I started bleeding a lot and had to get out of the tub right away, but my midwife and her assistants were phenomenal and handled everything, I didn't even end up with IV fluids. From start to finish, labor was only 8 hours!! Happy to say baby Ezra is 2 days old, and we are doing great!! I had a tiny tear that didn't need stitches, and he is completely perfect. Hoping this is encouragement for some of you ladies planning the same!
