potty training tips ladies

Just bought our son his own little toilet since he was driving us nuts with flushing ours obsessively. He is 1&1/2 but dr said it's a good idea to start introducing him now to potty training, any tips you have for me ladies on how to get him to start using it? I'm a first time mom and have no idea. But he's already started obsessively flushing his little toilet once I set it up and put it in the bathroom. Next step is actually getting him to use it, not just flush
