where should a nipple piercing be?

So my best friend and I got nipple piercings at the same time about 6 months ago. Mine always gets infected and hers is fine. I saw her the other day and her piercing is at the base of the nipple and mine goes through the nipple (if that makes any sense). Is mine pierced wrong?

The more shallow the piercing the higher the chance of rejection usually so it should be pierced fairly deep but not too deep.

No it doesnt have to be completely at the base but it shouldnt be at the very tip either
