thought my water broke

So I have been having very uncomfortable cramping and more slippery discharge for the past three days. So I called my OB and expressed my concerns and what I should do about it. My appt was originally tomorrow but I just couldn't take being uncomfortable much longer. So I left work early and went in for an appt today. My water hadn't broken, which was good, and I was already almost 2cm dialated. I'm 30 week and 3 days, so she said that was normal also. But what wasn't okay was that my OB said when she stuck her finger in, she could go all the way up and touch my baby's head. 😱 so she sent my to the hospital and I sat there for about 2-3 hrs for monitoring. I stayed at 2 cm which was good, but they told me to stay very aware of my baby's movement and to keep track of my contractions if I was to have anymore. They told me be prepared if she comes early because right now that's how it was looking. When I went to the OB office I was not expecting having to be put on a monitor and basically being told my baby will be here sooner than expected. They did send me home and told me to continue drinking all the water I can. Has anyone else had this happen and it not turn out so great? Because I was honestly scared.
