finally wrote my hectic birth story!!
My due date was Friday 31st march, on this day I started getting little pains, talkable ones. On the Sunday my midwife came to our house and gave me a sweep, saying I was 1cm and he was very low but back to back, we went for a long walk that afternoon and contractions started. On Monday morning about 6am we went to the hospital where they said it was early labour and I was 2-3 cm. we were sent home to continue at home, we went walking again for them to get worse, but not closer together, on Tuesday morning about 3am we went to the hospital again for them to say I was 4cm and could stay in, so we got the bags, called my mum and was all set in the lovely water birthing suite, by 11am the midwife came in and said I wasn't progressing quick enough, to go home relax and come back when contractions are 3 minutes apart, so off we went home again. By now I was finding it really hard to wee, I just couldn't empty my bladder at all. My mum came to our house that evening and even though the contractions wernt 3 minutes apart, the pain was unbearable so I said we needed to go to hospital about 2am Wednesday. On getting there they said I still hadn't progressed and to remember this is "early labour" meaning it's going to get a lot worse! By 6am I couldn't remember the last time I had wee'd the midwife gave me a jug of watder to drink, and a bowl so she could see me wee before sending me home, well I drunk that and was in even more pain not being able to wee still, having to sit on the end of a bed with my mum holding the bowl, me trying to wee, equals dignity gone! In the end they got a doctor to scan my bladder, the out come being it had over stretched and baby was blocking it, so I couldn't pass urine. All that pain was baby on my bladder! They put a cathata in and drained 1400ml straight away, relieved wasn't the word! So the outcome then was to keep me in and induce me on Thursday, while waiting for a room I went and showered where even though I had a cathata in felt like I was wetting myself, it wasn't until 4pm that a midwife clicked that was my waters breaking. So I had to have anti biotics because they had already broke. Wednesday evening we kept going for little walks to try and get it all going, at 1am on Thursday I was so uncomfortable I asked the midwife to check the cathata, which she did and said was fine but she thought that baby had poo'd in my waters, she called the doctor to have a look, who thought so too, they decided to see if there're was a bed on delivery and get things started. At 6am I was moved and prepped, canular in, inducing injection, and an epidural. They started the drip and off the contractions started! After half hour the midwife called the doctor in to Show her that every now and then babies heart rate was dropping. They decided to turn the inducing injection off after half hour, as that could be the cause of his heart rate dropping. At about 2pm I was 6 cm, managing to get sleep inbetween it all. The next time I was checked was 7 and i was 7cm which wasn't much change, they said they would keep an eye on me to see if the contractions picked up again on there own, which they did. At 11pm the doctor came in to examine me and said I was 10cm, to wait an hour then begin pushing. So 12.20am I began to push, it went on for an hour and half before the doctor came back to say I wasn't progressing and the best option was to go to theatre, to use the vontuse cup and forceps, but I only get 4 pushes while she pulls, after that it's a certain c section. After signing away the right for them to if need be take out my womb, I said bye to my mum reassuring her every thing was fine, when I actually had no idea! After that it was all abit quick, I was prepped with about 10 doctors around and John got into the scrubs, he came and sat with me and I was told to push with everything i had, it was all abit of a blur but heard the doctor say this is push 3, then she was telling me to put my hands up which I couldn't work out why, until she held up this cute bundle of baby! He was born within 5 minutes of theatre starting, no c section! Born at 2.35am 7lb 3oz 7/3/17. After theatre we went to recovery for hours before going onto a ward for 3 days until going home.
