Baby food at four months?

My baby is 18 weeks and doctor said he is ready for baby food. What should I feed him, and how much for his first feedings?

My pediatrician suggested starting with one food and only feeding her that one food for a week or so. Then you can move on after you know she doesn't have any allergies or reactions to that food. We are doing set potatoes every other day.

I made all my baby food but the first ones I've started with are sweet potato, pears, butternut squash, bananas, apples, carrots and green beans. I also give my baby some of the baby oatmeal.

They have great recipe ideas and charts to show what foods you can start giving at what age.

Only one new flavor a week btw.  To test if any allergies.
 
I was told savory/veggies FIRST.  Ask doctor if rice cereal is needed, if not then you can skip that.
 
I will start my son on peas or spinach first and move on from there.

Skip the cereal go to the veggies. As for how much ask his Dr my son drinks about 5-6oz of milk I'd try maybe 2oz of food.
