always getting mad

My SO has always been someone who loves spending money and honestly can be a bit of a penny pincher, which is fine because it's just his personality. I on the other hand am not as strict when it comes to some spending, I love to decorate, improve, remodal parts of our home because I want it to be a beautiful happy place for our family one day but he gets so irritated! He gets mad when I buy new carpet, paint, decor, etc. I can't get him to get over it! I could understand if I was spending all HIS money but we both work/ pay bills. To me it really feels like a hobby and something I love. How do I tell him to just lay off without making him mad
