pain in my vagina?

Just starting today my vagina started hurting and I'm not sure why. Yesterday I did maturbate and my finger was inserted but it just feels sore inside now. It currently feels the same as pulling a dry tampon out.  I looked online and all I can find is pain on the outside which leads to herpes, infections, etc but I don't think that's the case. Maybe someone can enlighten me what's going on.
