Half Marathon with my Bump!

Emily
I was training for my fourth marathon when I found out we were expecting my little baby.  My first doctor told me to stop running "no jiggling or bouncing." We switched to a midwife for a lot of reasons, and she approved my continuing to run (though I decided the marathon was too difficult with morning sickness). I had a gym owner tell me if continued to run I'd "lose my baby" (I obviously left that gym 😏). On Saturday, my 🤰🏼and I completed a half marathon in Milwaukee at 21 weeks
. My pace has slowed dramatically (50 mins longer than my usual time!), but finished the race and have never felt stronger or more mentally tough than I did on that course. I'm so glad to be an active running mama, who listens to science and not alarmists whose knowledge is way outdated. I'm exhausted today but it was so worth it and can't wait to show my baby we can accomplish our goals no matter what - he or she will be here in October, and I'm so thankful for my supportive husband, friends and family!

Way to go!! I was training for a half also, but my time has never been as good as yours. I do regret stopping my training even tho my Dr said it was fine. I had only trained to 6 miles and knew i had a way to go, so i didnt feel like i could get to the 10 mi needed for a half. I should have just said, to hell with the time, walk it if you want to. Congrats, thats awesome!

Awww yeah, maybe you could try a shorter distance? It was scary I didn't know how it would be, but I had the best time!

Awesome job! Your pace is great considering you are halfway through your pregnancy, I can't even run an errand without losing breath lol You'll be back to the long runs in no time in the fall!

I know right??? I have days when I feel awesome and do workout + walk a couple miles at a higher pace and some days I'm a slug taking two naps in the couch. It's weird and wonderful all together 😊 you are welcome!

Haha it comes and goes - walking from the car into target had me winded today. Pregnancy is so weird (and awesome). Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm surprised your doctor told you to stop running... my doctor told me to continue with my regular exercise routine and not anything new....
