Anybody had their waters broken?

Question

Has anybody had their waters broken by their doctor or midwife? I'm meaning not while in labor. Just breaking them to try bring labor on? How long after breaking them did you go into labor? And how long was your labor and what was your experience?

I had my water broken at 39 wks with my son. Water broken at 9 am to start labor (i had already been contracting for about 3 days before this) my son was born at 12:27 pm. So 3 and a half hours total. No pitocin or any other medical intervention at all.

At 39weeks with my daughter my ob broke my water and I had her two hours later(all he did was break my water no other intervention ex: pitocin, epidural, etc.) I was already having contractions when I went in but they weren't regular so i guess just braxton hicks. It went by very fast i plan to go natural this time too

If they break your water and you're  not in active labor they will give you patocine through the iv that will jump start everything it's hard to say how long it will take, for me they induced me at 6am and I delivered at 12:07pm

My water broke with my last 2 at 36weeks while on the toilet and I had mild contractions but they gave me an epidural within 2 hours of being at the hospital so they could start pitocin and monitor contractions and babys hr I never felt the full effects of the contractions but my first daughter was born at 39weeks I was induced and when Dr broke my water it took my breath I remember letting out a noise like i had been punched in the stomach
