confused, please help.

I have been bleeding for 10 days now. my period started the 1st and I started birth control on the second (the patch) my period ended the 4th, and my patch fell off again on the 8th (I had unprotected sex that day as well) I started spotting the 8th. so I didn't bleed the 5,6, or 7th. I've been spotting up until the 12th (it become another period) is this normal, what's it mean??
