Okay how bad is labor really?

Question

First time pregnant my sister made it sound like a breeze... was her first also. I have panic disorder and scared I'll freak out lol.  What does it feel like honestly... I've had a hernia and appendicitis at the same time and was able to still walk around handle it very well. Have had cyst burst in my ovaries, hand surgeries. Have severe pain from herniated disc.

TBH it wasn't that bad for me. Yes it hurt because you're giving birth but I was lucky to only have a labor that lasted 3 hours with 10 minutes of pushing. Get the epidural - I went in thinking I'd do it natural. Lol nope. It's worth it, makes a huge difference. Contractions suck but you're a powerful woman, you'll be okay.

I have never been through labor but I am really excited for it! I really feel like it won't be as screaming bloody murder painful as it's made out to be. I'm having a very calm birthing, with only a few experienced friends and my husband there to assist. I think birthing is a natural thing and exciting! I'm ready! You can do it!

I'd say considering you've had cysts burst, hernia, and appendix problems... and you were able to handle those, then you are probably a little stronger than you think and handle pain better than you think. Don't psych yourself out because of horror stories. Now it's no walk in the park I'll tell you that. I only made it 7 out of the 13 hours of labor with out an epidural for my first. Although I was induced and from what I hear, pitocin makes the contractions a lot more intense. This time around I told my doc I don't want to be induced if we can avoid it so that my body can take over and do what it was naturally meant to do in hopes of not having an epidural this time. But I will also say, that getting the epidural was probably the least painful out of the whole experience (and they messed it up so it had to get done THREE times 😩). Everyone handles it differently and just trust your body and know your limits. Be open to pain relief if you need it and know that it will be over quicker than you think. My best advice would be to try and stay as calm as possible (I know easier said than done) but I think maternal instincts are pretty powerful and are meant to help keep you focused in times like that. Labor was honestly amazing to me. I loved labor and delivery. I was terrified before and once I pushed her out I was like "that's it?" And she was 9lbs9oz and I had a 3rd degree tear, so it's not like I had a tiny baby and no pain. I'm excited to have this baby.

Contractions is by far the most pain I ever experienced in my life.. The pain was so bad that I threw up & it was hard for me to breathe & get comfortable 😩 epidural is truly a life saver

It was the worst pain ever, until I got an epidural and then loved it!! I thoroughly enjoyed my Labor Day!! I missed it so much once it was over. But if I didn't get the wpidural , I probably would have felt like I was gonna die. The pain was so intense I couldn't move. BP was so high and felt like I was gonna pass out ! Labored 16 hours without epidural then had baby girl 6 hours after epidural

I'll be honest with you and do not freak out.

At first with the contractions it's like period cramps and you can talk through them and they get very annoying.

Once they intensify and start to become more frequent they make it hard to walk or talk in full sentences at once.

So if your are standing you may have to hold onto something until it passes and if you are talking you basically say a word then pause and say another and pause until it's over.

The pain doesn't become more intense.

Labor depending on what you are choosing (epidural or no epidural) makes it go by differently.

I've done natural with my first and I'm not good with pain so it hurt. With my second and third I got epidurals and relaxed during labor everything was easy for me. Now with my 4th I know everything to expect and plan to maybe go natural again.
