Back labor??

Question

What exactly does it feel like? I've heard of people who only had back labor and I guess I would like to know the difference from contractions or regular labor if that makes sense.  My sister told me oh if your back starts hurting your in labor but is it like a constant pain? Or is it just pain off and on? Guess I'm just confused. Ftm, gonna be 39 weeks Monday just trying to know what I should keep my eyes out for.

I didn't know what to expect being a ftm and everybody always said you'll know but at 38 weeks I had just got off work and had back pains like sharp stabbing pains and to me it just felt like I worked really hard and I was really pregnant. But a little bit before 12 am I was laying down waiting for my boyfriend to get off and started to think maybe I should time these pains but fell asleep instead for maybe 5 minutes and woke up to my water breaking I was in such a shock I kept telling myself that maybe I just peed myself lol. The contractions after my water broke I could definitely tell they were the real deal but mine started in my back and then tightened all around. Everybody definitely has a different experience good luck!

It's a constant pretty bad back pain but for me the back labor was easier for me to do that the other. I deliver natural so with back labor they put a nice size ice pack on my lower back and it numbed it really good it wasn't the wrap around pain that is like lightning wrapping around your lower body. Either way I still go natural but a backache that you can numb with ice is easier than the wrap around pain because there's nothing you can really do but stick it out or get medicated for that. I didn't think either one was extremely bad it's basically, pretty much no pain with my back icee during back labor or some moderate pressure and little lightning strikes the other way. Epidural I felt nothing and was unable to push so I won't do that again. My body hadn't ever had anything stronger than an aspirin so the pain meds knocked me out of it pretty bad.

To me , it feels like my spine is being grabbed and twisted . I had it with both mine and even my barxon hicks are in my back .
