I had a very dramatic experience giving birth to my son
So my little boy was born in February at 41 weeks. Like most first time mums, I had planned a stress free, all natural labour.. well that was not what happened. I should have just binned my birth plan, as NOTHING went as I imagined .
So I was 40 weeks on the 2nd of February but baby decided it was not the right time, so on the 3rd I was given a sweep but was told my cervix was still very far back and I wasn't dilated atall ( I could have strangled her) so over the weekend I bounced on my ball, atecurrys, went over speed bumps and used sage oil.. basically everything I could to induce labour natully. By the Sunday I wansnt feeling very well and had a sore back but just brushed it off. Monday came and I was having contractions off and on all day ( I was delighted, this was finnaly the time) but no, baby was STILL not ready, the contractions stopped by 8pm. I had the midwife on the Tuesday, but was shocked to be told I was completely thinned out and I was 2cm. Wednesday came and I lost my plug and started contracting, I finnaly went to bed at 1am on Thursday morning but woke up at 3am with the worst pain ever, by 6 I knew it was time to go to L&D. When we got there I was already 5cm but my baby was back to back, stupidly I thought my baby would be born in the next hour... that is not what happened.
By 12pm I was STILL 5cm so took morphine, and was started on a Hormone drip to to help me dilate. At 330pm I was finnaly 10cm and it was time to push ( thank the lord) now this is where it all went downhill
at 415 I was still pushing but my face started to feel funny, as the doctors came in to do the rounds I had said my face felt funny but the baby's heart rate started to drop and my blood pressure was very high, all of a sudden my face swelled to double the size and my left eye swelled shut, as they tried to flip me on my back to try calm the baby down, my canuler ripped out and spritzed blood everywhere. After that I was taken to theatre for forceps. It was the longest half an hour of my life but as soon as I got the spinal ( I was told I was probably going to need a section if forceps didn't work) I was happy as Larry. My not so little boy was born at 17:53 weighing 9lbs and 58cm long.
Afterwords I was told I had developed Hammas syndrome ( a burst air pocket in my lung ) whilst pushing, there's about 1in 100,000 chance of this happening.. and it happens to me 🙄 but thankfully I made a full recovery and my baby was healthy and BEAUTIFUL!
Can't wait to see if we have the same excitement when we decide to have baby number 2 🙌🏽
