How to keep your vagina happy 🌷 😊
Here are some nifty vagina facts!
Your vagina has the same acidity or pH level as a glass of wine. The normal vaginal pH for vaginas is 3.8 to 4.5. Most wines' pH fall around 3.0 or 4.0. (Please feel free to make a joke about pairing your acidic vagina with something rich and flavorful, like filet mignon or pork belly).
But really, your vagina's pH is perfect, just the way it is.
What to eat
But if you ever want you vag to smell or taste better, do not douche! We repeat do NOT douche. In fact the first place to start might not be in the shower but with your refrigerator. It’s a pretty simple concept that what goes into your body is going to affect what comes out of your body. Studies show that the healthier you eat (think less sugar, more greens), the better your vagina feels.
Also think yogurt! It has the same good bacteria your vag needs. (Also, yogurt can be advantageous for way more than just your vaginal health and if you’d like to get sucked down an internet wormhole learning about this, we totally recommend it.) Be sure to look for yogurt with live and active cultures & probiotics. The fresher the better.
Exercises for your vagina
Doing Kegel exercises strengthens the pelvic floor muscles for stronger contractions during orgasm. They are super simple to do and can be done anywhere at anytime. Like right now 😉
Here's how: The next time you are urinating, try to stop and start the flow of urine. Voila! You've found the right muscles!
Now that you've found the muscles, start a simple Kegel regiment. Once or twice day, lift and hold those muscles for 5 seconds and relax for 5 seconds. Repeat 3x. They are seriously the easiest exercises in the world to do because you can literally do them whenever, including while being on the phone with a relative that talks too much, while checking your Facebook newsfeed, or while waiting in line during your lunch hour for this slow as molasses, texting-while-working cashier who is ringing up one person every ten minutes and excuse me, you’re not trying to be a pain, but can you please speak with a manager? And then you can do more kegels while you talk to the manager.
That's it! Keep it up and you'll have stronger orgasms and a surprise *squeeze* in store for your partner. Best win-win ever.
Underwear preferences
When it comes to your underwear selection, your vagina has a preference: cotton. (Wool is expensive. Synthetic materials don’t breathe. Stainless steel are easy to clean but on hot days they are going to be majorly not fun.)
The type of underwear you wear, while not likely to be a sole cause of a bacterial or yeast infection, can still contribute to irritation. And the wrong type of underwear can worsen pre-existing problems.
Meanwhile, cotton breathes and absorbs moisture, so that is why it’s the perfect choice for your lady parts. Plus it is cheap, so when you wear one out, you can get another at a low cost.
Viola! That's all it takes to keep your vagina happy. Now if only the same could be said for your boss...
