Circumcision. Yes or no? And why?

Please only comment on your own comment, not someone else's. I know this is a touchy subject and I'm not trying to get everyone's feathers ruffled I'm just curious as to what your plans and/or thoughts are. Thanks.

I left the decision up to my husband. He's a nurse who had clinical in basically every specialty including pediatrics and OB. He has seen circumcisions in the hospital on newborns. He did a lot of research and got opinions from everyone (he wanted all, positive or negative).

We are not circumsizing. 
The pros of circumsizing is that there is a slightly reduced risk of uti and std transmission rate is slightly lower in circumsized males. Overall, two things that you can talk to your child about and there should be negligible difference (keep your penis clean and practice safe sex). My husband felt very, very uncomfortable with the idea that it's a cosmetic procedure that is genital body modification, and there are risks involved with it. A lot of the argument for circumcision was "don't you want your child to look like you" or "you don't want other kids to make fun of your child when he's changing in the locker room". Ideally, in a locker room, no one should be studying my kid's penis and no, my child's penis looking like his father's is honestly a bit creepy of a reason to go for circumcision. I did have a friend say "well what about when he gets a girlfriend and she goes to give him head and then she won't because he's uncircumsized." I explained that if she's repulsed by his foreskin then she's clearly not the one for him and better finding out sooner than later. 
One thing my husband was concerned with that almost made him consider circumcision however is that when doing well checks, doctors awho are not used to seeing uncircumsized babies may forcibly retract the foreskin, creating problems. This is a big concern for my husband. In this case you have to be the advocate for your child and hopefully by now (the rates of circumcision are dropping) most doctors are knowledgeable enough not to forcibly retract.

I'm due July 23rd with my first child ( boy of course ),& he will be circumcised . My fiancé was very anal about this because he is too . He said he's very happy that he is . I generally left the decision to him because he's a male, he would know better than I would,& I have no issue getting him circumcised ! Plus it's a little extra hygiene care to it that guys don't really care for lol .

No circumcision here. I'm having my third son and he will be intact just like his brothers. It's a cosmetic procedure. Without a religious or medical reason is unnecessary in my opinion. Also, Outside of the U.S. circumcision is not a routine procedure. It's a personal decision though and either choice is fine.

RN here. Ive seen circumcisions performed and they made me literally sick to my stomach. Its a cosmetic procedure only. We are due in 6 weeks with our first boy and he WILL NOT be circumcised. No way.

My son is due in 12 days and we will not be circumcising him. We believe it's not a necessary procedure and is simply cosmetic. We see it as being more closely associated with genital mutation than a healthy choice. And my husband doesn't want him to miss out on those extra nerves. I also feel like it's a decision about his body that he deserves to make on his own someday.

My husband is circumcised but we/he decided not to circumcise our little one due in 2 weeks. He had the opportunity done when he was 8 for medical reasons. Unless needed we will not touch our boy

Yeah. I'm looking to get it done. It's more hygienic and they don't have problems with cleaning etc. Trying to get it done as soon as possible so he don't remember or feel the pain as much

We were on the fence with my last son. My grandfather had to have a later in life circumcision. He said it hurt worse than his triple bypass. He begged us not to put our son through it. So we did it and we are going to do it with the son. But there is no wrong answer. It's a personal choice.
