postpartum class?

Question

Has anyone attended a postpartum class? I didn't even know that was a thing... can anyone get me an idea of what's discussed during the class? I don't have a lot of time so I'm trying to determine if I should go or not.

As a postpartum doula I say, go! There is SO much information that isn't shared from mother to mother anymore. No one adequately prepares you for what may happen, what's normal, what's abnormal. Once that baby is out the focus is on the baby. It's one of the worst aspects of our culture in regards to the early postpartum period. What you learn depends on the class. Some focus on the healing aspect of the birthing person, some on how to take care of a newborn, some on how to adjust as a family unit...it really depends on who is putting it on and why. We took EVEYTHING that was offered at our hospital... I really don't think any of it was in my mind by the time we got to the hospital... on the other hand, by fiancé did remember the breathing exercises and during my hour labor he continued to ANNOY me by telling me to do the breathing exercise with him! I told him in a very soft, loving voice if he didn't shut up I would not be pushing anymore! Seriously during an extremely painful contraction and pushing you don't breath you don't think of anything else but getting your previously LO OOOOUUUUTTTTTTT!!! 
Also they teach about different techniques to get thru labor... all the labor in you'll go thru.. there's a few stages(this did help us bc we stayed at home for as long as we knew we should and did a lot of the exercises they mentioned). You learn about the healing process, feelings before/after baby is here. A lot about baby stuff, to swaddle, feed(breast/formula), a little more I can't remeber but I've heard from a lot of moms that didn't go that you can learn it all online(YouTube, works the best)
