how much formula?

My son is 4 months old and about 14.5-15 pounds. Our home scale is always a bit off. If I go by the 2.5 oz per pound rule he. An have up to like 37 oz a day. He's been drinking anywhere between 25-35 oz this last week. Maybe it's a growth spurt. Everything I've been reading has been saying no baby should have more than 32 oz of formula in a 24 hour period. I don't want to starve my baby if he's hungry. Anyone else hear of this? I'm
Not overly concerned because it's an occasional 35 oz bottle. Most of the time he's satisfied with 30.

I've heard that too. However I do believe that a baby will drink when he/she is hungry. My baby definitely lets me know when she's had enough or if she isn't hungry. She will kindly slap the bottle out of my hand 😂😭😭😭

There's no set number that your baby should eat. Babies don't guzzle down a bottle if they're full. If your baby is hungry he/she will drink the bottle. Let them.

Been wondering the same. It's been a struggle lately to keep her at 32 oz. it's been 31-34 lately because she is still waking up at 2am and 5am 😩

My dr said to avoid going over 32 oz but our 2nd baby will gladly eat till she pops.

We restrict her to 5 6oz bottles a day with the occasional night feed. She also gets two solid feeds a day now. One tablespoon of oatmeal cereal and fruit or veg. One in the AM and one before bed.

My friend told me her dr said some babies have a strong suck reflex and will suck whatever you put in their mouth. Mia is like that and they may not actually be hungry, they're just eating bc it's there. So give the normal amount and wait 30 min. If he still cries and fusses and won't settle feed another ounce or two.
