I'm not getting my PhD to become Dr. House Wife.

So my MIL, who doesn't know we are trying, said to me last year before we got married: "will you be able to find a part time job after you graduate so that you can stay home with the kids?". I'm nearly 29 right now. I have a B.S. in Biology, a M.S. in Medical Sciences, and am 2 years from getting my Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. I'm not becoming a Doctor to stay at home! That is a very personal choice for each woman. I'm not getting this much education and loan debt to not work and waste it. I get that my husband is an engineer, but I have more education and intend to work. I want a baby to feel complete, but I also need to use my education to feel complete. I hate that she tries to force archaic values on me, such as that women shouldn't work. I'm honestly terrified of the crap she'll say when we are finally successful with a pregnancy.
