Is my man being childish?

Every time we text and I forget to send a heart emoji or i just can't be bothered to find certain emojis he gets annoyed and tells me I wouldn't do that if it was .... bla blah he always claims I have a side thing aswel and that's the reason why I won't text him back with the emojis. I think he's very insecure and I do try to always remind him how much he means to me but sometimes he makes it very difficult. Also when I tell him this he had a way of making me feel so bad :(
