Accutane on a 16 year old?

I have pretty bad acne at the moment, all over my chin and on the apples of my cheeks. At the start of this year, my skin was so clear so I never wore makeup and then at the end of April I had a huge breakout which has left scars and I now break out weekly. They are red and inflamed and I hate wearing makeup, but now I wear it every single day, and ALOT of it. I will be going to the doctors this week and I hope to be prescribed accutane..... have any of you ladies used it? I am aware of the side offects and my Mom used it when she was 18 and said it worked wonders, but it makes your face, skin, lips and hair dry, however I have insanely oily skin naturally. Sorry for the long read, but I an truly so depressed and desperate for help with my skin! 😢😢

i did acutane when i was 13 i think? and it changed my life. i had horrible cystic acne and now my face is clear, i hardly ever get acne however bc i picked mine all the time i have horrible scars, so don’t do that lol! if you choose to go on acutane, be prepared for hell. acutane is very hard on your body so it can dry out the pores, which means your skin is going to be INSANELY dry. nothing you cant handle though, it just gets really annoying. you also need to go in for a monthly blood draw to make sure the pills aren’t messing with your blood pressure and things like that, and that was hard for me bc i have a phobia of needles but it eventually got easier. overall acutane is a great medication for acne.

I took accutane when I was 14. It was the best thing I ever did. Now I'm 26 and I never have break outs. It was totally worth it for me.

The makeup is what's more than likely causing your acne to get worse and not go away. Putting makeup on pimples is the worst thing you can do. 
And honestly, it doesn't help because it either makes your skin look gross or you can see the bumps under the makeup. 
If you're worried about what other people think, I can assure you as someone who has battled bad acne since I hit puberty that nobody gives a shit. 
I wasn't ever on accutane but I was on doxycycline for my acne and it helped. 
 Stop caking your face with makeup Exfoliate your skin and use moisturizer 
A toner wouldn't hurt either. 
For a face wash, African black soap is amazing and if you can afford it you could try proactive. Proactive seriously worked wonders on my skin but I couldn't afford it. 
Now I used homemade soap given to me from my mother. But I don't know the recipe for it to give it to you.

I used it when I was 16, now 31, and it didn't work at all for me. I had really really bad acne as well. The only think that worked for me and I still use to this day is Proactive. And yes definitely stop wearing any makeup at all. The makeup is what makes you break out. I know that can be tough but your skin will clear when you stop.

From what ive heard its a very long hard process to actually get on it. They test to make sure your a good candidate which takes a while to complete the testing. Theyll pretty much try everything before that if they can. It also makes your skin worse before it gets better. I personally would try as much as I could before trying that especially with all the awful side effects.

I used it in high school. Definitely made me depressed and I thought about suicide a lot. Also messed up my cholesterol levels, that was the reason my doctor took me off it (I didn't tell anyone about the depression stuff).

I have never used it but my boyfriend did when he was in high school. 
They're pretty positive that he developed Crohn's Disease because he used this.
