Bio hazard or not?

My friend brought up a good question that I want to ask. Whenever you get blood on anything it's considered bio hazard and thrown in that bin not the trash, but everyone is perfectly okay with women throwing used pads/tampons in the trash, when that is clearly covered in blood. Why is this? Why don't we have to put our period stuff in the bio hazard bin when everything else with blood goes in there as well???

That's a great question, one that I have asked myself quite a bit, but from my understanding, working in health care for several years, it is because of funding and being considered a lower-risk contaminant. As odd as it may sound those little red boxes cost a lot and janitorial staff/medical staff have to be trained to dispose of them. I have been in a few hospitals that do have them in, both, men's and women's restrooms but they are usually located very well funded hospitals that have top notch trauma centers, cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment centers, vascular care, and so on.  Lastly, for the love of all that is logical, it is not because of a "patriarchal" conspiracy theory that was solely implemented to "keep women down" and make them feel "ashamed of their innate anatomy". I have typed it before, and will do such again, this app provides such a dense population of bloviating imbeciles who would rather arbitrarily blame the world's inconveniences on someone than accept personal responsibility of action.

I think the bio hazard bins are because of the needles being used for shots or to draw blood. So you don't get pricked by a used needle.

Because most men would rather pretend periods don't exist! At my first job my boss didn't have a sanitary bin despite having 3 teenage girls working there, I mentioned it to him and he asked me to organise it myself
